Why does my sony ericson phone battery last as long as they say it should?

i have a z750a sony ericsson phone and the battery doesn't last as long as they say it should

  1. It's just like how a car doesn't get the EPA estimated MPG.  The battery is for optimal conditions.

    First, when you use the phone you'll probably place a call or two, maybe more if you make a lot of calls.  You also will navigate through menus to change settings or check the time and all these things.  Doing this is "extra work" that requires more of the batteries energy.

    Second, the battery life for "standby" is literally just having the phone sit there, no using it to check the time or making a call.  The standby estimate is just for the phone sitting there, possibly even without the SIM card.  Any process performed by the phone would eat away at the potential energy in the battery causing lowered battery life.

    Third, the battery life for a "phone call" is more accurate for if you were to make one long call that you never hung up.  Something along the lines of calling somebody and talking with them for hours upon end with no break.

    Lastly, the battery life they give you is just an estimate, just like the estimated MPG of a car.  Hope this helps ^^.
