Question:

Why does my sound keep going off temporarily?

Whenever I try to watch a video or I try to listen to music, the sound on my computer will go off temporarily. Usually, I would have to restart my computer in order for it to come back on. It's getting really annoying, and I just don't have the time to keep restarting my computer. My speakers are plugged in securely, and I know they're on. Also, when I try to watch a video on youtube or something, if the sound goes off then the video will freeze. If I try to replay the video from the start, it will just go to 2 seconds in with no sound. Anyone have any ideas?

  1. I had the same problem. I found that uninstalling and re-installing my sound card did the trick.

  2. Do this, it should fix your issue.

1.)  First find out what type of Sound card your using.  You can do this by downloading Everest Home Edition or going into Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Info and obtaining the data on your sound card there.

2.)  Once you determined who makes your sound card, go to there website and re-download the drivers for your sound card.

Alternatively, you could download Driver Detective, it's free and will tell you what drivers are out of date on your system.

Another way is to simply put in the System's disk's that came with your system and re-download the system drivers.  This is not always the most convienent way because 90% of the folks have lost their system disk or do not have it anymore.  However, if your in the 10% of those that do still have their system disks, give it a shot.

  3. That's weird. Try searching Google for an audio driver update.
