Why does my speakers in my car make a popping noise?

  1. Do you have an aftermarket amplifier? If you do, often this noise is caused by electrical interference from the car's ignition system. There are noise supressors for addressing this sort of thing, but you probably need someone who really knows what they are doing to install the right one and route your power wire to avoid sources of interference.


  2. balance/fade out each speaker individually to determine which one is blown.

  3. If it is a popping noise then I would check to make sure your speaker wires and connections are not shorting somewhere to ground. If you hit bumps and it does it then that is most likely what it is. If it is a popping and a whine more like a ticking when the motor is running rev the engine and see if it goes with the rpm. If so you are inducing noise into the amp and it is amplifying it. It is a process of elimination of unplugging the RCAs from the head unit back to see what is letting in the noise.

    Then you can get ground loop isolators to fix it.
