Why does my starter hum/buzz when I try and start my jet ski?

I have a 1999 Yamaha 1200 suv Jet ski which I have not used for a few months, today it turned over the first time I tried to start it but now it just kind of hums, the battery is good,

if it is the starter is it possible turn it manually to free it?

Try cleanning all of the cable ends. use wire brush or sand paper. also make sure the starter shaft has plenty of lube on it. Yes you should try to tap on the starter to release the gear. if that wont do it try to pry lightly on it

Sounds like the battery is low or the starter is frozen.
