  1. Well you know your gums actually kind of erode away...plaque gets underneath the gums and eventually the gums erode. You may not even notice.  But when they do more of the root of the tooth is exposed and that is where you feel the sensitivity.

Or it might also be due to drinking acidy drinks.  They actually erode the ENAMEL of your tooth.

Another possibility is the filling is eroding too, so sugar gets in between the filling and the tooth.  Often a cavity can even form underneath the filling.

True, toothpaste like Sensodyne can help.  I bet dentists can even coat teeth wtih something (but RARELY DO as there would be no cash for them!!!) to help them out too.

I suggest you use the toothpaste for sensitive teeth. It takes about 2 weeks to fully realize the difference, and use enamel building toothpaste too.  They are probably just gimmicks but who knows, hopefully they really work.

Oh and just so you ALL know...teeth whitening is REALLY bad for your teeth.  That makes your teeth REALLY sensitive too.

In fact my hygenist said I should use Sensodyne for a few weeks before attempting any do it yourself job.

  2. sensitive teeth

  3. The people here who mentioned you may be developing "tooth sensitivity" are right. Although it could be a small cavity it sounds more like the other. I'd go to the dentist no matter what ... you don't want to mess around with your teeth. If a cavity grows into an abscess it can be extremely painful and make you very ill or worse. I'd just go get a check up to be sure.

Your pain sounds exactly like mine did, however, and it also happened when I ate chocolate or anything sweet. It wasn't a cavity - it did turn out to be my teeth just getting more sensitive. There are awesome new toothpastes out there that can make the pain completely go away. Just look for the ones that say they are formulated for sensitive teeth. If you want to try that first go for it ... but if the pain doesn't go away be sure to get to a dentist even if you have to foot the bill yourself. If it gets worse it'll be that much more painful and expensive.

Best of luck with it and I hope that you are pain free soon ...

  4. You may be developing a tooth sensitivity. I had my wisdom teeth removed in 2001 and after a year I started getting pain in my back teeth only when I ate apples. Now it has turned into a full fledged sensitivity to where anything cold, hot, or hard will hurt my back molars.

  5. Just cause you don't see any cavities, doesn't mean they aren't there. You should go to the dentist. If your tooth pain continues, try rinsing with warm salt water.

  6. My back teeth are very sensitive, lately. I dont have any cavities, either, but if I eat a lot of something real sweet, or something gets stuck in there it's like.."Ayyyyeeeeeee!!!"..lol

  7. If you are eating something sweet and you get a pain....you probably have a cavity.....(or some re-decay around an existing filling)
