Why does my text take so long to show up after i type?

Question

when i type in the address bar, on microsoft word, even in this box, the letters do not show up until long after i have typed my thought. the letters show up individually, as if i was struggling to type my sentence.

for example "HURRY UP AND SHOW UP" displays as "H....U....R....R... etc"

and it takes foreverrr.

so.

what's wrong with my computer ?

oh btw. even if i only have one program running this problem still occurs.

Bring up Task Manager and see what is using all your CPU time.
