My 17 month old has been having 2-4 really loose bowel movements each day for the last few weeks. Most times there is alot of undigested food in it. He eats very well, lots of meat, dairy, fruit, and vegetables. He doesn't act sick, and it is not causing a rash or anything. He also has not had any weight loss. I've decided that I will be calling our pediatrician on Monday to ask about it, but in the meantime, does anyone know what could be causing this or what it is?

  1. my son is the same way he is 15 months.  When i asked the doctor about it she said that it was normal.  He would go 5 to 6 times a day.

still should call and ask though

  2. Try cutting his dairy for a few days and see if it helps. My 3yr old had loose stools for 3 straight months and after probably the 20th dr visit his pediatrician finally suggested lactose intolerance. Apparently about 1/3 of the world can't tolerate cows milk, we just don't realize it until our bodies are so adjusted to it that they can tolerate it a little more. When we cut dairy out of our son's diet he instantly got better. He was on soy milk until he was 2 1/2 and then we switched him to the lactaid milk. Sometimes they grow out of it and sometimes they don't. Still go see your doctor though. good luck.
