  1. Your drains are not properly functioning. Mine did this at first also. Then one day it happened in the bathroom sink and tub- the sink backed up all over the floor and the tub had filled about 2 inches- all with nasty drain garbage. At the very least you need to use some good drain cleaner and put it in every drain- even the washer drain ( pull out the washer drain hose and pour the cleaner down it), you will have to get the toilet drain done professionally This will help clear out the gunk until you can get it professionally cleaned. Or it you have a handy man have him use an electric eel (drain cleaner) to clear the drains- you can rent one at some hardware stores. And no it is not just air- it is gunk from the drain not allowing the water to go down properly and it is forcing the drain to back up in the toilet- which can end up being very nasty if the toilet drain backs up. Man I remember when this was happening to our house- I hated it!

  2. They probably share a common sewer line (the toilet being the last thing on the line).  Very common.  The bubbles are air that is being spun down the drain by your washing machine.  It is harmless.

My washing machine is before my bathroom sink on the sewere line.  When my machine drains, it will cause bubbling and gurgling in the sinks drain (and an occasional splash of a few drops of spray).  Drives my cats nuts.  They sit around it trying to caught whatever they think it is moving down in the drain (at least until they get sprayed.)

  3. Stop washing your clothes in the toilet
