  1. TV Pro my butt...that's not even close to what fails on the RCA line of TV sets....

When it shuts off every couple of minutes, it indicates the main power supply regulator is going into overvoltage shutdown and it's protecting your circuitry from getting fried by excessive voltage coming from the regulator....

Now there is another possibility, but you did not state that the picture turned white, THEN shut down, so we won't even discuss that failure....

Now you know the difference between a guy that actually works on TV sets, and a guy that pretends / claims to work on TV sets...

I'll be more concise and he'll be rather vague in his description....

  2. I've seen thousands of TVs in my TV career, and several with the trouble you describe. The problem has nearly always been diagnosed as a cracked circuit board, which when heated and cooled through use, warps enough to cause the operating currents to be disconnected, causing the set to turn off. The cause could be from jarring when being moved, or from being turned on when still cold from being brought into a home from a store, in the winter weather. (don't turn on household electronic devices until at room temp.) I hope your set is under warrenty.
