My wired connection in the house gets 500kbs. My dads laptop with wireless N gets around half that. Than my desktop upstairs with wireless G router usually gets 20 and changes very often (usually goes down). Thing is we're going to get a new wireless N router for the desktop upstairs but im not sure if it will help. Is there any way to make this computer any faster?????

  2. Could be a bad wireless adpter. What is the g adapters proximity from the router.  as G is only good within 150ft of router not including the obstacles like brick/oakwood/fridges and 2.4Ghz phones that may be interfering with the channel.

You could try changing channel router uses 1,3,9,11 seem to be the best according to Linksys site those should be used when 2.4Ghz phones are causing issues.
