Why does my xbox 360 keep on messing up my games?

When i put in my xbox 360 game into the xbox it makes a wierd noise that sounds like its tearing up the game.Then the disk is unreadable screen comes up and i look at the games and they are completely scratched. So far it has destroyed Halo 3 Rockband and Gears of War. I have never moved the xbox while its on with a game in it. So what is Wrong?

If your console is standing up, it can cause this problem, also if you leave the game in the xbox while not playing or if you move the console with the disc inside.

eeek... halo3? that sucks.... do you stand your system up? when your system is up any kind of movement can make the disk  wobble just barely enough for the reader to make a nice burn mark in it.

if your xbox is laying flat then you've got a problem.... 1-800-4MY-XBOX
