Why does my xbox360 scratch my games every time i turn my system on, but only on the top side?

i dont understand it, the discs don't break, but they are scratched on the top side sometimes heavily and sometimes lighty on the bottem reading side, but they all still work.. can i make this stop? my games glitch soemtimes in the beginning opening credits, but only for a sec, then continue to run perfectly. i dont want my disc to break anymore then they are. do i have to buy a new 360 or can i clean it somehow or fix something on it?

and also i did not buy a warrenty( yea bad idea) but i heard soemthing about an automatic 2 year warrenty..can i get that? or is that for the red ring or real at all? can i take my games back?
