  1. After last nights games, we are only 4.5 back in the WC hunt.

We have a great home stretch and thus an opportunity to do something.

The key will be to make up these 4.5 games during the month of August...then to pull ahead in September!!!

As for why others don't care for the Rangers...from the Media they play to the numbers and thus population of the Northeast produces more fans, higher ratings and more money.

That's one hurdle...the next is the history of the Rangers...we are the Cubs of the AL, only without the National Fanfare of the Cubbies.

But there are a few of us out here who live and die by the Rangers...If you want to talk Rangers, visit the Yahoo Texas Ranger Message board:

    http://messages.yahoo.com/Recreation_&_S...

You'll find some pretty cool and regular Ranger fans...of course lately, due to a bit of Ranger success, we are starting to get Trolls from other teams who act like fools...but for the most part, we have a good group of fans chatting on the board.

Great to see Ranger fans posting on Answers...maybe soon, the Rangers will rise up to the top of the standings, or sneak in on a WC and upset some unsuspecting big wig team!!!

  2. I think your team has a explosive offense but is hurting in defense and pitching. I wouldn't get my hopes too high this year but I bet the a's and rangers will be at the top of the al west next year.

  3. after a 9-18 start, what they have done is great!! so no! not everyone is badmouthing texas! they are good and will take second place in west over oakland!

  4. I DO THEY ARE GOOD THIS YEAR.

  5. They are a good team.  However teams like the Angels, Rays, Red Sox, Yankees, White Sox are all with better records at this time.  This, most likely, takes from the spotlight and coverage.

  6. It's the pitching, but they are a pretty good team your right.

I see them being contenders in the near future. Maybe not this year though because the Angels hold the best record in the majors. I think the Rangers need to aquire some pitching this offseason and they will be fine.

  7. Because you have zero pitching.  Never have, never will.  And it's only a matter of time before Milton Bradley goes Milton Bradley and starts trouble.  But it won't be his fault.  Everyone is against him.

  8. 5 and 1/2 back in the Wild Card doesn't get you to playoffs. Not when the Red Sox and Yankees are fighting to catch up to the Rays. Not when the Twins are trying to sneak attack the White Sox.

    Pretty good isn't good enough.

  9. finally somebody else that lives and breathes the rangers like me, you know what i am so glad that you asked this question because me as a fan love the rangers and you know what all i want is a .500 season, lol, thats it, i think realisticaly they might not make the playoffs because of how tuff the other teams in the wild card race are but hey you never know

Ian kinsler, michael young, and josh hamilton are my favorite rangers, which one/ones are yours

message me back if you want

    great question

  10. I think your team ihas one of the strongest batting lineups in the league!! They are hurting a bit on pitching but their hitting is keeping them in the race. Good luck!!!

  11. They aren't widely known, they're not the Red Sox, Yankees, or Cubs, and they are almost never covered on ESPN.

  12. The reason is probably that "pretty good" doesn't get you to the playoffs unless you are in the NL West. The Rangers have an explosive lineup that has already plated 600+ runs, yet they have given up 630+ because their pitching is like that of a JV High school team. Pitching and Defenses win championships and the Rangers don't have anything close to a good pitching staff. Yes, they are decent, but they need a few solid starters before they get some notariety.

  13. I think everyone other than the haters acknowledges that they are pretty good. The issue is that nobody cares about 'pretty good' or 'better than they were last year' other than die hard fans of a team.

Texas has a great lineup but their pitching needs work. And long time baseball fans know that playing a full season in the Texas heat always takes its toll.

For now, Texas falls into that group of second tier teams - they are not good enough to get everyone talking, nor are they so spectacularly bad that they attract negative attention.
