Question:

Why does old=better for president for some people?!! ?

Everytime a young prez candidate (young as in 40 to 49) has a chance (Lincoln, Kennedy, Obama, Clinton), the experience issue comes up?

Why is there an age limit to how young you can be to become president (35) but not as to how old?!

Isn't that discrimination?

Why do people equate age with experience and knowledge? I know some dumbass 60 year olds and some smart 35 year olds lol.

It really pisses me off. So you mean to tell me if a perfect candidate for president came along with experience (15 years), was intelligent, and capable.....but was only 35 to 37 years old you wouldn't vote for him? Seems very unfair to me.

Obama is what...47/48 years old. Palin is 44. When did this become too young?! I just feel that if both were ten years old we wouldn't hear 90 percent of the c**p we hear now. It's sad because some of the youngest presidents have been some of the best!!

  1. I don't think that it does. Old doesn't mean better for president, experience does. Imagine your perfect candidate, 35 yrs old, 15 years experience... she/he would have to have been elected before he/she could legally drink!

Age simply means that the person has more opportunities for experience, and when we see older candidates, we usually think that they are more experienced.

Remember when Fred Thompson was running, people were saying that even though he was old, he didn't have enough experience.

So, I'd disagree with your assumption, and say that people rarely ask about age (Kennedy didn't really get too much about age, because he was very experienced), but rather they worry about experience, which they sometimes confuse with age.

For the people that think that age actually matters, i'd say that they're old themselves, and they're looking for a candidate who is like them.

  2. I can't wait for the debates to come. The democrats are going to smush em' like retarded roaches.

    Obama / Biden 08'

  3. Because usually experience is better; you wouldn't like some kid just out of medical school to perform surgery on you if you are badly injured in a car accident, would you? Same principle.

  4. "Why do people equate age with experience and knowledge?"

Age = time and in that time McCain lived a life.  He was a prisoner of war in Vietnam while Obama was in diapers.

Obama's career was launched by the terrorists (William Ayers) who tried to destroy this country from the inside during the Vietnam war while McCain was fighting for our country.

    Think about that.
