Question:

Why does our Government make it more difficult for native English speakers to immigrate here?

Seems like we (Government) allow higher numbers of non English speaking immigrants (quota wise) to come here than those who can more quickly and willing integrate into our work force and society. Isn't this against our own best interests as a nation ? I'm not xenophobic, I welcome anyone who wants to immigrant (legally) to this country it's just that current policies seem counter productive to a cohesive society.

  1. All I know is that if it were easier then alot more Brits would move over there perminantlly. You think you have it bad with the Mexicans?  well we've got it worse with the muslims and all the other third world trash nobody else but us will take.

  2. Because its not the language.. its the skills that the immigrants bring... Native english speakers may not have the needed skills.. or there are alot less (to begin with) that want to immigrate.

  3. Well , kitty government, in that case change your rules, but I think it is totally the other way around.

Whoever informed you that, I have the feeling that the information is not trustworthy

  4. Okay native English speakers: British, Australians, Canadians.  As far as I can tell times are pretty good over in those places, so I would ask "Why the heck do they want to come over here?"

Perhaps it just seems like they would make it difficult because you just don't see too many of them.  However last I saw, I was coming off a plane and a Brit breezed through customs.  *shrug*

It is not counterproductive to a cohesive society because our society has two worlds: Home and Work.  When was the last time you went home to the same people you work with?  When was the last time you were at their house for dinner?  You don't even associate with people you work outside of work so why are you concerned about establishing a cohesive society with non-english speakers when you don't even do it with English speakers?

Lastly, not speaking english is to the non-users detriment.  Conservatives like to let market forces work.  So I would say let them not speak english to their detriment.  It benefits me to have them not speak english and I can have myself or my children capitalize on the disparity.

You have nothing to worry about... except xenophobia itself.

EDIT:  YES!  I love thumbs-downs!  Where are the counter-points you dim-wits?

Here's another point - General limitations to immigration from any country are equally applied.  HOWEVER - check the link below in section 5 (A and you'll see that immigration is not restricted to quota if for employment purposes.  So the answer to your question may simply be: They would allow more English speakers in if they would just get off their arses and get a job!  LOL!!!!!!!!

  5. They give a preference to third world immigrants instead of first world immigrants who would be able to assimilate.

    Moratorium on all immigration!

  6. It costs lots of money to integrate non-English speaking immigrants into society. As a  Spanish bi-lingual (and the only one there), I was pulled out of the blue collar workforce at my last job and paid an obscene amount of money to train, orientate, and supervise the new Spanish-speaking employees.  I had no experience in supervision but made more than other supervisors who had been there for years. Our school systems also put out lots of money when non-English speaking students come in. Aside from the money, the whole education system has to slow down to accommodate them. My son's whole class was behind because they had to go slower in order for those students to keep up. I don't think we should have to learn a new language. As the old adage says, "when in Rome".

  7. I think you may be reading a bit TOO much into it all...i believe there are other "current policies" more deserving of such criticism...

  8. People from English speaking countries have no reason in most of the cases in moving permanently  to America.

Countries like Australia,England,Ireland and Canada have  in a lot cases the same or better standard of living that the U.S.

So, the situation really does not happen to a point where people from   English speaking countries are going crazy trying to get into the U.S.

  9. soon youll be speaking spanish here in ireland we all talk about how many mexicans immigrants go into the USA
