  1. Well perstalsis is occuring this is the churning of the stomach wall and when your stomach is empty this can result in the noise your hearing.

Also there is a hormone called ghrelin that stimulates appetite that causes hunger pangs when your stomach is empty and by eating Nuts it can help to keep ghrelin levels down.

  2. To tell us the stomach is hungry so it grumbles. Its Natual!

  3. Actually, your guts make noises all the time - it's called borborygmi (great word!).

Your digestive system is always pushing food, liquid and gas through.  Even when you don't eat, there are juices that make their way through the system.

    From MayoClinic.com:

"Hunger and appetite are controlled by a complex system of hormone-like substances primarily made by your digestive system. When you haven't eaten for a while, these substances are released and cause a part of your brain called the hypothalamus to "switch on" your desire to eat. A message is then sent to your stomach and intestines. This triggers muscle contractions and the release of acids and other digestive fluids — which causes the rumbling, grumbling sounds you hear — as your body prepares for you to eat. The thought, sight or smell of food also can trigger this response from your intestines."

  4. I'm guessing you already knew that anwser from A. nonny mouse  so the "scientifical" reason as Bush would say is THUS! Hunger and appitite are controlled by a gland called the hypothalamus, when you haen't eaten for a while a.k.a. when ur hungry, this gland releses hormones that tell your stomach and intestines to contract and expand as well as to relese certian digestive acids causing your stomach to make all kinds of weird noises. The noises are often made after you eat as well because your doing the same thing as when you are hungry only this time with food in it. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/stomach... here's a link basically telling u everything i just said in non-lamens terms. have fun digesting stuff!!!
