Why does our society REFUSES to excel in math and science to create ALTERNATIVES energy sources to oil?

We killed the electric car, and it appears that no one wants to think outside the box or learn new skill that involve science or math. So WHY????

instead of knowledge we celebrate ignorance, stupidity, and get-rich quick. We are a debt-laden society who spends more than they make. we EXPECT something for nothing ...

not all of us of course, but the hard workers among us dont make the news ...

The electric car was killed because gas was cheap and the car was too expensive.  They also required special charging station installations in homes and businesses.  It's not like you could just plug it into your wall outlet overnight.  Only wealthy eco-freaks would have bought them at that point in time if they were put into real production.  There weren't enough wealthy eco-freaks to make it feasible for the auto companies.

Now is a good time to revisit it though.  Chevy has a model in development called the Volt.  It's a hybrid, similar to a Prius, but with more battery capacity so you can plug it in at night and drive more miles on battery and less on gas.  It'll be very cool if it comes out in 2010 like it's supposed to.

Our country fails in math and science because we are stuck with an antiquated education system that the liberals in power and teacher's unions won't let us change.  Oh, they'll let us throw more money at it, but never let us implement any real reform.

Ah, the box. As long as the box is comfortable, who cares to think outside it? Don't worry though. It won't be that way much longer.
