Question:

Why does passenger side carpet get wet when I run the AC in the minivan?

I first noticed this problem on a 12 hour trip when I needed AC the majority of the drive.

What is the cause, and more importantly, how do I stop it? I'm driving 600 miles one way at the end of the month.

  1. run a hanger in the drain hole at the right side firewall not too far in just enough to get it to drain

  2. You a/c unit is not draining properly.  Check the housing for cracks, or see if the drainhose is still attached.  Sometimes the drains become clogged with decomposing pine needles and leaves.

  3. the ac drain tube is off or plugged up.

  4. My friend had this same problem but in his house.  A bug had built a cocoon inside the drain pipe of his central ac unit.

  5. That happened to me when we drove six hours to Atlanta in our civic.   It hasn't done it since   I don't know why we are going to get it checked out maybe you should too

  6. There is a drain tube on the passenger side near the firewall that is probably plugged up. Cleaning it out should stop the condensation from building up and dripping onto the carpet out of the HVAC box under the dash.

  7. Most likely condensation on the air conditioner motor.

    See your mechanic.
