Why does playdo smell the way it does?

I know its because of the ingredients but why?

Like you say the ingredients, cos there all mixed up.

Each ingredient to start with will of had their own smell and after ebing mixed in with other ingredients they will have formed a new sent. :o)

my guess would be that if your kids are going to be playing with it, you'd want it to smell half way decent instead of having to bathe your child every time he/she plays with playdo.  That's just me...
