  2. It focuses his mind, relaxes him so he's in a better state to take the kick.

As has already been said, Rob Andrew started it.

  3. so he can have an acurate decision on wher the ball will go

the hands are acting like a ball

  4. its called praying

  5. Rob Andrew actually started that whole hand thing, watch some of the vintage games, and you will see RA doing it.

No one really commented when RA did it - seems to be tagged to JW - but it really came from his mentor.

Andrew said it was something to do with "putting yourself in a bubble" leaving everyone and everything else outside the bubble.

  6. He is doing whats called a "resource anchor"

when you see a red traffic light, what do you think?...STOP!!!! right?? this is whats called an "anchor". it reminds us (visually) to stop....

Wilco, does his hands thing to remind him to focus or get into the "mode" of kicking that egg over the bar!....its possible before he goes on the pitch he attaches many valuable and focused emotions to his clasped hands so when he does actually have to kick...he clasped his hands and bang......hes reminded to FOCUS ON THE BALL AND THE BAR!!!!!

hehe i " anchor" myself regularly its really good. its a good trick to do in times needed..if you wanna find out about it....study NLP! i do! good luck! MJ

  7. Ask him!

  8. Not working to well lately though..his strike rate is down to 60% Maybe it's harder to "centre yourself" when theres a ton of surgical metal down one side of your body?

  9. That will increase his concentration. that will help him kick at his plan best.

  10. He's praying that England might actually win.

  11. It's to do with repeating exactly the same movement every time. By following a set routine every time, the kicker is eliminating the possibility of introducing unwanted movements into the kick. Archers do the same thing.

  12. He's pretending to be a Garden Gnome !!! All he needs is a fishing rod !?!?!??!

  13. Most of the time players do things like that to help them focus on what they are doing.

    Go England!!!!!

  14. balance and concentration thing! i saw it on one of his videos on bbc sports site where he 'reveals his secrets'

  15. i would say it helps him centre his balance, whilst prepairing to kick

  16. Why not? It works 4 him most the time!!!! Hes a Great player!

    Its probably balance tho!!

  17. It's to help him balance and concentrate, and if you didn't notice everyone else does that, cuz they are copying him..

  18. His piles hurt :-)
