  1. It takes much less energy and creates much less air pollution to make something out of recycled material than to first extract/synthesise the material from ore/chemicals.

    To produce an item from recycled plastic it requires 70% less energy than to make it from new plastic.  By using recycled aluminum, we save 95% of energy and also reduce air pollution by a similar amount.


  2. reduces the amount of garbage going into landfills by recycling

    (why make a new bottle when you can just not waste the energy / lanfill space &just reuse it??)

  3. cause it goes into the earth and causes damage... ok no but it's just wrong
