  1. I use a Reiki Tenohira CD for self-heal at least five times a week.  It takes about 1/2 hour to cover the five head positions, five torso positions, six arm positions and five lower limb positions.  Then the CD continues without particular direction to any body part and you can spend as much time as you wish on a particular body part your intuition directs you to.

When I work with shelter animals and my cats at home I use the Reiki Ho CD which includes the dry bathing and repetition of the five Reiki precepts.

Reiki goes where it is needed and I find it reassuring to follow the traditional applications for overall balancing of energies.

I got the CDs from the International House of Reiki in Australia, produced by the Steine's.

  2. Why do you think?  Come on.  Think about what reiki is.

Reiki is about drawing the bad energy out. When using it on yourself, you are creating a circle.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

You need someone else to do it for you.

  3. Here's your answer:

It works just as well, if not better, when you use the Reiki system on "yourself".

I'm guessing that you're referring to how you feel the energy flowing. Myself, when working with my hands on myself, I often experience less sensation than if my hands were on someone else.

I believe this is because it is working within by body on a range of levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. The only level I will be able to sense it working on is the physical. When the energy is focusing on one of those other levels, I cannot "feel" its physical effects as much.

When working on someone else, you feel the energy flowing but you are not actually feeling their physical reaction. Only their nervous system can interpret their physical sensations, but because the energy is flowing, you can feel this quite strongly.

    Does that make sense?
