Why does religion questions bring so many answers?

Whenever I pose a controversial religious questions, I get the most responses and get the most heated and sometimes hateful answers.

Why is that?

  1. I would say it is because religion gets down to the core of our personal beliefs, values, and identity, whether it is the religious denomination or the lack of religious beliefs.  This is the primary purpose of religion, of course, to provide a guide for your own personal conduct and path in life.  Because it is such a personal and intimate subject, it causes equally passionate opinions.  In addition to that, religion has a very strong influence on public policy.  Since we all don't see eye to eye on religious beliefs, it's no wonder people get bent over some of the laws and policies out there.

  3. everybody thinks that they have the answer, or have found the key...

    and depending on the question and how many answer people read will depend on how heated they get and how they feel they need to defend their beliefs.

    ex.  if you posted a question about God being the only God...i'm sure you would get a lot of people countering against that...saying He is just a concept...through all of those responses you would get Christians responding and trying to show them He is real...more than a concept.

  5. believe it or not, it's part of this world's major problems and disputes...
