Why does reverse osmosis water taste so different?

I just installed an RO water unit, and emptied it 3 times already. But when I drink the water, it tastes very different. Its actually not a very desirable taste for water. It tastes almost metallic like, any ideas?

  1. Aquafina has an extensive purification process which includes reverse osmosis. There is nothing wrong with your water or your RO unit. That is how water is suppose to taste.

If it is really that unpleasant for you then you can always go back to the inferior basic filters like Pur and Britta offer.

  2. Aquafina water is reverse osmosis water. That's all I drink. I tastes different because it doesn't have any minerals in it.

  3. It should taste different than mineralized tap water because the minerals have been washed out of it. The filters or the connecting hoses may still have some factory taste in them. That will go away with use.
