Running at the park is torture after just a few seconds, mainly my shins killing me - yet I have a 13 minute mile power walking, and I can run in place forever. Help!

  1. Usually the culprit for aching shins are your shoes.  Also, pronation of your foot might have something to do with it. Pronation is how your foot comes off the ground when you run (does it tend to come off the outside/inside of your foot).    Proper stretching, conditioning and nutrition can help in addition to wearing the right shoes (ask a doctor/athletic therapist).

My single best advice for losing this problem is to use pliometrics and isometrics. Single leg squats, 100x each leg.

And pliometric hops, like when jumping rope, can really help.

    Good luck!

  2. It's the amount of weight that you are putting on your shins and the impact. You'll want to ask your doctor about relief from Shin Splints

  3. icing ur shins can help....like take a trash can and fill it with ice then with water and sit in there for as long as u can but no longer than like 4 minutes at a time...
