Why does salinity drop in the equatorial climatic zone?

I need to know why salinity drops at the equator, but is at it's highest at something like 30° latitude.

  1. The equator is a stormy place.  More thunderstorms and tradewinds mean more rain is falling there than any other place in the world.  From the equator the water is pushed either north or south causing salinity to rise in those areas.
