  1. One reason school exists is to establish the social norms required for the majority of society. This is not just how to socialize with others, but also the attitude preferred in most industrial/corporate situations (be quiet, do what you're told, don't ask questions).

Schooling ensures that the students get generally the same education, with homeschooling the quality of education is largely dependent on the parents free time, education level, and involvement. Many parents do not have the time, energy, or education to properly educate a child.

  2. The first mandatory public school law was called the "old deluder law" which mandated public school to teach children to read the bible.

Now public school is used as daycare and indoctrination tool.

  3. You CAN be homeschooled.

I am, and I love it!

  4. for social order, we all need to be obedient therefore school is the perfect solution. thats why it compulsory.

  5. You CAN be.

  6. Schools exist because in the late 1700s and beyond, many families immigrated to America that did not have the ability to educate their children with skills that would be needed to succeed in America.  Though they may have reached a decent level of education in their own country, they may not have had specific skills - like a mastery of the English language - to teach their children.  Therefore, schools were opened to give everyone an opportunity to gain an education.

Before the mid-1800s, most children *were* homeschooled.  People such as George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson were homeschooled, at least until they were old enough to go to college.  (TJ had a brief stint with a tutor until his father died and he had to inherit the family estate at age 14.)

Many children - upward of 2 million or more - in America are homeschooled, as well as millions of other children around the world.  Our school system was borrowed from the Prussian (now Germany) school system in the early 1900s, which was actually designed to give every citizen a standard education in order to train efficient and obedient factory workers.  (Nice.)  We've broadened it a bit from that, but there are kids who just plain don't learn well within that system - for them, options such as private, charter, and homeschools are available.  Homeschooling, as well as other options, are completely legal and legit in all 50 states.

  7. exactly what "good old days" are you referring too???   exactly when was that  -  the 1700's??    You may want to go to school to learn about the history of education through the ages.......

  8. Because homeschooling is horrible....

People shouldn't be homeschooled unless they have trouble at school (Bully, or education wise)....

Otherwise, I don't think anyone should be....

    But that's just me though....

    =)

    All my best!

  9. Here is a funny video that really does a good job of explaining what schools are about:
