Why does schools have mirrors in the hallway and stairs?

my school has mirrors in the hallway and stuff and im wondering what are they for?

Mirrors are suppose to make a person self-conscious. maybe the school wants the students to be self-conscious and responsible.

To keep an eye on you lot! ..... We say we have 'eyes in the back of our heads'! well these mirrors make sure we do! And round corners!
