Why can't religion match science?

Religion matching science, makes god more real. As we learn what is and what is not about the universe, we would be adaptive in our religious thought, and truly discover more about god.

  1. Because religion can't match science.

  2. We'll it can't work like that, you can't change the word of God, that would make it meaningless and void. I think if you yearn for knowledge drop the whole God thing and follow science instead.

  3. ok, now look at the opposite: should science disprove religion?? considering almost ALL gov't (if not all) are based on religious beliefs, to prove that religion is a lie would lead to chaos, perhaps only temporary, but utter chaos the moment it is disproved... and for that reason, gov't will do anything needed to hide such prove should it ever be discovered, and ironically it really would be to protect us.

  4. Bible is under the science not the opposite

  5. Which god, exactly?

  6. Science asks different questions than religion. Religion is about WHY, Science is about HOW.

  7. It doesn't have to.

  8. Religious thoughts have been linked to the temporal part of the brain.

Here are some links to explaore the subject. Who says science has not done anything about this subject?

I found these just by typing in "religion and the brain" and doing a search. There's alot more. Too many to enter here, it is a vast subject.

  9. Science is the search for truth.  If religion is truth then science would have to match it.  If science and religion don't match then one must be wrong.

  10. Religion (superstition) is the enemy of science (human advancement).  Just ask Galileo.

  11. Yes, but only if one is open to change one's mind.

  12. Religion is an emotional experience based on ones imagination. Science is an attempt to accumulate facts. It's like asking ,"Why does my dog not behave like my cat."

  13. if we did that we would be back in the dark ages why need to discover when your god says he poofed it

  14. Religion and science are irreconcilable, imo.

  15. God created this world, and as many scientists believe this as anyone else. Science must match religion because without God, the creator, there would be no world for science to explain.

  16. What nigel said.

  17. Because, science can only explain this world. Religion, more specifically Christianity and faith, explains both this world and the next. now which makes more sense?

  18. it doesnt lol

  19. science as we know is represents knowledge about predictablity of the future based on the assumption of unchanging nature of underlying laws of physics causing repetition in the results of experiments - religious faith provides a way to predict without reliance on mere repetition but with the belief of scientific theories included as a simple basis for prediction of simple phenomena... so science is included as a subset of religious truth since the assumption that physical law will continue to dictate the future requires faith...

  20. The problem is Science is not a belief system. Contrary to popular belief Atheist do not worship any Scientific doctrine. Science is the knowledge covering general truths or the operation of general laws especially as obtained and tested through the scientific method. Those rather they be Muslim or Christan or Jewish, have members of their respective religion who see their holy books as literal translations. Which makes it problematic to adapt to recent finds in science and technology. Some of these findings challenge strong religious beliefs like the Earth's age, Dark Matter, and evolution. Especially when you see your holy book has a literal translation. These rigid believers have always been a part of religious tradition and unfortunately they hinder adaptive thinking the religion.

  21. When it comes to change, religion is the slowest.

Probably because it's so old and had the tendency to cut down people who did not adhere to their precepts.

Even policing systems took time to evolve, and so did employment systems.

For instance, there was a time when the guilds had so much power that it was a death-sentence if someone made a different pattern of argyle sock.

Yes, people died because of this.

But it wasn't a religious issue, it was a social one.  People are idiots and it took us a long time to get to where we are now.

Science has made great progress in the last 100 years, and we all had to have time to adapt to it.

  22. The science don´t have to match religion, is the religion who have to match science, because in this way is more easy for the people believe. The science don´t care about what the religion tells, exept of course the sciences that study religion like a form of mass manipulation, like some of the political sciences.

  23. Good observation;  think you're on the right track.
