  1. Sea salt is basically sodium chloride, plus some trace elements like magnesium, iron, silica that are found in sea water. Medically, it's an astringinet and can also kill bacteria that are sensitve to saline conditions. You can use sea salt to stop minor bleeding, like razor cuts, and to disinfect cuts but it will burn a bit. Don't drink it or put in you eyes as it can be toxic and irritating.

  2. Natural sea salt contains about 81 minerals that are essential to the human body. When using it in a solution (1/4tsp sea salt to 1 cup of boiled or bottled water) it aids in promoting healing, relieving pain, and reducing swelling to a fresh piercing.

It's not that it kills bacteria, but it helps to stimulate your body to fight off the bacteria and to heal itself faster.
