Why does seeing, hearing, or tasting something from the past "Takes you back"?

Its happened to me

Disney Music automatically takes me back to being a little kid

Root beer reminds me of art club.(the art club advisor served rootbeer at every meeting)

is there a psychological explaination?

walking around in one of my old schools takes me back to being a student there.
