Why does skipping breakfast make you gain weight?

I want to go on a diet but it says that skipping breakfast makes you gain more weight.

I cannot stand eating in the morning it makes me feel sick!

  1. If you don't eat in the morning your body keeps fat in reserve as a survival mechanism .

    It assumes you are not getting any food because it has been hours since the last meal , so stores extra fat just in case , so when you eat later on there is extra fat that doesn't get burned off.

    If you can eat, can you tolerate juice? Give that a try.

When you skip meals or don't eat for long periods of time you can trick your body into thinking you are starving and metabolism will slow in an effort to conserve. Breakfast is particularly important because you've just been fasting for 8 hrs while you slept. Your body will store fat in a effort to prepare to keep from starving. So eating small low calorie meals throughout the day will be more effective than skipping meals especially breakfast.

Your metabolism will slow to a crawl and you will not burn the calories you should.  Why not try a liquid breakfast like a protein shake with a banana, skim milk and ice.  Take it with you and sip on it.  They make three flavors, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.  Most health food stores carry them and they are stocked full of vitamins.
