Why does skype run so slow on my computer?

When I downloaded it I ran it and when I try to call my friend on it or message someone it sends my computer into a crawl I have to shut it down I've uninstalled then redownloaded it someone help me.

You probabaly have to many other processes running. Best way to fix this is to go Windows + R key, then type in "msconfig" Then press Okay. In the window that pops up select StartUp and deselect ones like Google Update (Publisher Column) etc.
