Why does society treat men who abandon children better than women who take responsibility?

Question

i have noticed that women often have to take the heat for illegitimate children (me being one of them).

i never knew my dad cause he bailed as soon as mom found out the "news"...at least she took responsibility for it. (she was going on 36 when she had me).

but society seems to only blame the mother for the pregnancy but never look at the father, even AFTER he leaves her stranded.

why is it okay for the father to abandon mother and child, but mother gets the blame even after she takes responsibility (mom never had s*x again after she had me, she doesnt even date).

its not just my family (i also refuse to EVER have premarital s*x, learning from what my mom has had to deal with as a single parent).

i honestly see men only as deadbeats that are quick to leave you hanging.

but can someone please tell me why men are let off the hooks but women are not (especially when the men dont do anything and the women own up to it)?

I don't know...it's stupid for sure.  I hope you meet a really great guy.  And bravo for actually learning from your elders...that's something a lot of people don't do these days.

Probably because society is ruled by men. If women ruled the world, they would be treated better.

Because western culture  predominately encourages men to achieve sexual prowess, but doesn't teach their boys the consequences of having s*x in relation to the possibility of potentially fathering children.  We still put the emphasis on the possibility of pregnancy squarely on girls.  Boys (and therefore men) do not consciously have the mantra "if i sleep with this person, could i get her pregnant - should i sleep with someone and therefore be tied to this person for the rest of my life" in their head before they have intercourse - they basically are encouraged to have a short term outlook in regards to s*x.  Both genders, (as their are also far too many girls who don't have long term consequence concepts in regards to pregnancy consciously impacting upon their actions) need to be educated.

Sorry that happened to you.  As far as the s*x thing, you are not missing much.  Society, which is ran by men, hate women.  They show us this in the way they treat us, the policies they make and the images they allowed to be acceptable for women.  Men are jealous because they can't give birth, have no self control, and are the weaker of the species.  This will continue to happen....  Good Luck

I think it only seems men are left off the hook because they're not around to get the heat. Sorry you had to go through that and I hope one day you'll find one of the many men out there that are responsible enough to take care of his responsibilities.
