Question:

Why does society under-estimate heat?

There was the kid on this page who said that his school doesn't have fans or A/C and he got heat exhaustion. This is very disturbing. Why is it OK or necessary to have heat in winter but not A/C in summer? If power is so expensive, then do away with winter heat. No one will suffer; they just have to wear jackets in class. Not having A/C in summer (unless you live in Idaho or Alaska) is dangerous, unhealthy and stupid.

  1. "There was the kid on this page who said that his school doesn't have fans or A/C and he got heat exhaustion."

    Hey, that's me :P

On another note, I seriously have no idea.

I don't think as many people are affected by the heat as they are with the cold.

My friend was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans on that day (it was like, 43 degrees Celsius!!) and most of my class didn't look sweaty or anything... it was weird.

  2. Our school's A/C is broken. Not to mention my mom always feels the temperature colder than it is, so she won't turn our home A/C on. I'm in the basement because my bedroom is 80+ degrees and it's sunny.

I'd take a cold over fever any day.
