I just got my blood test back. Unfortunately, I have high cholesterol and high triglyceride level. My doctor wanted to put in on statin, but I told him I wanted to try some natural means first. So he prescribed me Lovazo, an omega-3 vitamin/medication? I'm not sure if it is categorize as a medication or not but I'm already taking omega-3 fatty acid pills I got from my local grocery market. Anyone have any idea regarding this?

  1. maybe he thought if you had a prescription your insurance would pay for it....our office writes scripts for prenatal vitamins even though they can be bought over the counter, but that way insurance will pay in most cases

  2. Check out this link on fish oils, it may be usefull for you ~

    Fish oils are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and will also help to prevent depression;

    ~ alleviate rheumatoid arthritis;

    ~ offer protection against migraines and kidney disease;

    ~ enhance the immune system;

    ~ lower blood pressure;

    ~ keep skin, hair and nails healthy;

    ~ lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides;

    ~ reduce blood viscosity;

    ~ help prevent heart attacks and strokes......;0)

    To increase your Omega 3 intake ~

    ~ grind whole organic flaxseeds in a coffee grinder and sprinkle over fresh fruit;

    ~ throw a handful of organic walnuts into a green leafy salad;

    ~ add a tablespoon of flaxseed oil to your morning smoothie;

    ~ eat oily, cold water fresh fish like salmon, mackerel or tuna at least three times a week.

    organic with the nuts and seeds to avoid the nasty sulfites and other chemicals they use to "preserve" them that may upset sensitive bodies .......;0)

    You don't need a prescription to get good quality omega 3 oils ....  any good health food store will provide you with these ......  i have no idea what Lovazo is i'm sorry but after looking online i found this link for you which may be usefull ~

    As far as that sources goes, it says near the bottom that your prescription meds contain soybean oil .....  do you suffer from allergies to soy???  just a thought cos i'm extremely intolerant to soy in all its nasty forms .......  one of the characteristics of the soybean is to absorb aluminium from surrounding soil .  gaaah, i have no knowledge of this medicine but i can tell you flat out that the healthiest, easiest to assimilate and most nutritious way to get omega 3's into your diet is the organic whole food source ........ you need to discuss the contents of this tablet with your physician and inform yourself about what you are about to ingest....  including any known side affects ......... knowledge is freedom & power mate.

    As far as the pills you are already taking from the local grocery store, simply ensure that they are high quality fish oils (EPA/DPA) from which heavy metals, including mercury and lead have been filtered out  and do not contain lactose, wheat, yeast, gluten, preservatives or flavorings, sugar or yeast as none of these have any place in a good quality supplement anyways.

    hope this helps u

    cheers
