  1. It grows close to the ground.  If it had been washed, it would wilt right away.  It's a sign it is fresh, but sand doesn't keep parsley fresh.

  2. You are right the bunches of Parsley usually has dirt on it since it's grown in sandy soil.  I always take off that wire wrapper and take it apart and wash it in very cold water a few times so it's very clean. Then I put it in a glass of water half way up and place it in the refrigerator and it lasts at least a week.

Also the Italian parsley has more flavor than the curly type. I use the Italian parsley in salads and the curly in cooked dishes.

Nothing like eating chopped parsley on boiled buttered potatoes.

Or chopped and sprinkled over fish with lemon juice.

Or chopped and added to a tomato, cucumber and onion salad

Parsley is great also with bulghar wheat salad called Tabouli.

Well that is enough from Mama "Parsley lover" Jazzy Geri LOL

  3. They want to make you think its still fresh by leaving some sand still on the leaves, but yu have to wash them anyway when you get them home don't you, you better wash all fruits and vegetables yoou buy from the market befot you eat them

  4. Let's just say I had a cat that had a fetish for Parsley. He had good breath, but the garden looked like a cat box.

  5. well perhaps its grown in sandy soil and they pick it and throw it in a basket and send it to the shop. i suggest a good wash. the sand has no benefit to keep it fresh.

  6. Maybe they grow it in sand?
