Why does soy milk curdle in hot drinks?

The cloudiness and white bits look very unappitising in my tea and coffee but does not taste any different. Some brands are better than others though.

Why does this happen?

Are there a way to stop it?

Thanks.

  1. It should not curdle. You have to make sure you shake it well. Maybe you can use a soy coffee creamer, or a different plant milk such as almond, rice, hemp, or oat.

  2. It would not. It only would curdle if you add acid , i.e lime juice.

  3. I don't think its actually curdling... a lot of soymilk brands have "sediment" at the bottom if not shaken well- or sometimes a little even if shaken.... it may be your getting a bit of that in your drink.. it has happened to me... it won't hurt you and it doesn't mean it has gone bad.

If it ever does taste bad or it looks like cottage cheese... then I'd say it has gone bad... but hopefully the baristas wouldn't serve that
