The typical spell checker pops up for most names that are even a little out of the ordinary.  Many words that are used only in special professions also cause the spell checker to pop up, including those used by scientists, the computer industry, technical writers, and teachers, to name a few.  A good spell checker will allow you to go into its dictionary and add specific new words and names so that it will no longer do this.
