Why does stomach acid stop digesting after death?

its been buging me that when you die you dont digest food anymore, why does it not just continue on?

  1. Are you positive about that?  Just because someone is dead doesn't mean that the chemical reaction between the HCl acid in the stomach and the food don't stop reacting.  Also, a large part of digestion is the peristalsis of the stomach and intestines, and that most certainly does stop when someone dies.  


  2. Cells in your stomach secrete acid and pepsinogen so that the enzyme pepsin, which digests carbohydrates, will function. Cells are encouraged to secrete these enzymes only when it senses food particles coming in. Once you have died, cells die off so there is no real replenishment of food digesting enzymes.

  3. oh it continues after 2-3 weeks after death your organs inside your body start to liquify why because your acid is still in your stomach and it has no where to go after that your body itself starts decaying cause of bacteria and other things  

  4. Because your body is dead you dumbass. Every billion organism in your body dies off.
