Every time I go swimming, within 30 minutes to an hour, i'm absolutely starving hungry, even if I have eaten not too long before. Why is this?

For info: I normally swim around half a mile at a time.

  1. maybe it's because you use every muscle in your body just a guess

  2. swimming is hard work, and uses up a lot of energy, though you may not notice it. when you muse up energy, you get hungry. thats why.

  3. Because you are using alot of energy. This means that you are burning the calories and nutrients that you have all ready ate before you went swimming.Don't worry man it is normal.

  4. you are probably burning more calories than you are taking in. it is going to take a week or more of eating and more eating before it stops. but you have to eat alot.

  5. Swimming is one of the best aerobic workouts out there! Swimming using a lot of energy causing you to burn a lot of calories. Also, I have heard that being in the water cools your body temperature down so it has to work that much harder just to get back up to normal. That might be another reason why it is so common to feel hungry after swimming. Look at Michael Phelps, he eats 12000 calories a day!

  6. Cuz you're burning calories and fat. The food you have just eaten has been burned

  7. because when people swim they lose a lot of calories that make humans hungry

  8. Swimming is the only exercise in which you use every muscle in your body.  After a long or strenuous swim, you have burnt an enormous amount of calories.  A calorie is a form of energy, so therefore, your body needs to replace the energy you've used, and it does this by triggering hunger.

  9. In Scotland the snack you have after swimming because, yes you are ALWAYS hungry after swimming, is called a "shivery bite".  You have had lots of good answers so I thought I'd just "share " that with you.
