If you don't know what I mean, pour a glass and put your nose to it.

  1. the minerals in it, the ex-swereness, idk

  2. it has rust in it! ;/ i have it 2

  3. Because it is full of chemicals and it has to travel through miles of nasty pipes...tap water is really only good for things like washing and toilets...

  4. Because I tapped it?

    Just kidding.

Honestly, it depends where you are.

I'm in Seattle and it smells fine.

But if you're in, L.A for example, of course it smells bad.

  5. I get this problem in london, the water makes me dishes smell distgusting but at my dads in manchester it smells normal, must be the system it runs on.

  6. CHLORINE

  7. Because the water goes through old rusted pipes.  Also, when you by bottled water, chemicals are used to treat the water to remove taste, smell, minerals, etc.

  8. You're not safe with bottled water either. The companies that sell it get their water from local supplies and then charge an arm and a leg for it.

  9. Because it is recycled sewer water.

  10. old pipes

  11. It doesn't smell...

  12. The smell of the water depends on where you live.  Also, the color of it.  When I went to a part of Florida that has these special lakes, the water was GREEN and smelled like Rotten Eggs.  However, it was only because of the composition of it.  Some kind of mineral or something.  It was completely fine, actually considered to be healing water by many people.  So, I don't think you should worry about it.  I do recommend to buy spring water instead of drinking tap, though.

  13. Well telling others to pour it and smell it is simply not going to get the results you want. Each community gets water from different sources and they all have their own types of minerals and other contents which can affect the taste. The biggest thing is the chlorine we add to it too.

If you don't like it get a basic water filter or if you are real health conscious then get a purification system or distillery.

I have consumed purified water for so long now that tap water smells and tastes like swimming pool water to me.

  14. Could be lot's of reasons, depends on the source. I have a deep well (180ft) and my water is fine

  15. lol it does smell because of the chlorine and the minerals>>> and the fact that it is the same as sewer water!!

  16. It is sulfur water for you. Mine doesn't but my friends does. Its not your fault, its the sulfurs fault. Does it smell kinda like rotten eggs? If so that proves its sulfur.

  17. Water from the sewer goes through a treatment plant to be turned into tap water. If it starts to smell contact your Water Company soon.

  18. Beacause tap water is the same water that is in your toliet... I'm not lying!!!!

  19. I think it smells to it does because the sulfer in it comes from mines far away and sulfer is known to stink really bad

  20. I think it smells gross because the pipes that its coming from are made from iron or brass and they both smell bad

  21. Probably just your tap water. It might have bacteria in it.

  22. The minerals and impurities in the water.  Just because the water is treated and considered "healthy" doesn't mean it has no trace minerals (probably sulfur that makes it smell) or chemicals left over.

In southern Florida ,when people run their sprinklers at night, whole neighborhoods reek.  I have been going there for 20 years and the smell still makes me gag every year.

  23. It's all those chemicals they put in the water.

  24. the minerals in it make that stench

  25. It's probably a combination of the chlorine that the water plants use to kill germs, as well as mineral content and/or bacteria.  If you get a water filter, it will take alot of that yuck away.  There are some pretty inexpensive ones these days from Brita, or if you want something fancier, Lowe's and Home Depot have tons of them.
