Everyone says the person on tv appears 10 lbs heavier than they really are...why is this? I've noticed this to be true. Why is it that the television adds 10 lbs?

  1. Its the way images are projected onto the screen.  Nowadays with widescreen televisions, it adds a bit more at times.  Most television stations haven't modified their formats for widescreen.

  2. This is easy. The inventor of television (John Q. Televiz) had a wife (Skin N. Bones Televiz) that was anorexic. Whenever they showed home movies, his wife was just gross on the TV. None of his friends or neighbors even wanted to see movies on the tube because Mrs. Televiz just grossed them out.

Our good buddy John opted to have his invention add 10 pounds and (this is not known much) add one cup size to female's b*****s. That is how it became known as the "boob tube."

So, it's not due to height/width ratios, or some flaw of Panavision®, but rather Mr. John Q wanted his wife to add some weight and grow bigger b***s so his friends wouldn't be grossed out.

  3. It's because generally TVs are wider than they are tall. Therefore images automatically get horizontally stretched making people on TV appear wider or heavier than they actually are!

  4. I think it's the agents and production companies that make you feel 10lbs heavier!

  5. The truth is people realise how fat they're when they see themself on TV. Then of course they blame the TV for looking fat.
