Ever since I was little and I saw my first fight movie I thought that was the coolest thing in the world. So when I was old enough to purchase a hand gun I started taking target practice. But then I asked myself why was I doing that? Then I stopped. Even though I am still taking martial arts. But I think it's bad how television makes it seem good to want to be an assassin. This is sending a bad message to children.

Seeing as how I am a girl and many people don't think that girls enjoy combat and martial arts. But you would not believe how many little girls at the martial arts school I attend tell the older women that they want to fight like the women in Kill Bill. What do you think of this? Who is really to blame?

  1. Because we are carnivores ( meat eaters ) . we are not grass eaters . humans are lions and not reindeers . people find true enjoyment in violence . and that's why people pay more and more to see violence in movies . and if the film didn't include violence then it is considered dull .

  2. Yes I think it does, but you also need to be comfortable surrounded by death.

  3. Television makes violence look cool period. Imagine if all action movies were like saving private Ryan, I guess I as a man find that entertaining but thats too much realism for women and children to stomach.

  4. I'm going to be on cartoonnetwork as a cartoon charater

  5. you are slightly to blame  for your mind being so malleable...

but dont worry its not just you, we all get caught up in dreams that we have...

we can escape the hideousness of our own existence through dreams and fantasy, imagination if you will...

for example, as a  kid i wanted to be a pro footballer desperately.. i knew deep down that, chances were, this dream was never going to manifest itself

but when we want to change we suddenly through ourselves headlong into these fantasy lives we have in our heads.. which is you with the gun... its perfectly normal i guess...

you just gotta distinguish between fantasy and true reality...

tv shows are just another way of them happening... no one is truly to blame

hope this clears things up for you

  6. Because it is cool... violence is only bad if your the aggressor. It's cool to be peaceful and it's cool to stay safe.

  7. everybody growing up wants to be a fictional character on TV

i wanted to be Tara King or Emma Peel from the 60s spy spoof The Avengers

  8. Yes, that is a worry.... What is more of a worry is that parent's apparently let their children watch these R-rated movies!

In saying that, I doubt these little kids actually 'want' to kill people - I'm sure it's the cool martial arts manouver's that they are refering to.

It's the same old argument about guns and violent movies - men make it 'cool' to shoot guns and there are endless very violent movies being made.... Little boys want toy guns because it's so 'cool'.

And then there's all those movies with car races - hence teenager's and young men think it's so 'cool' to race cars on suburban streets! Cars are portrayed as toys.

    It is a slippery-slope......

the media is to blame, but many adults and parent's reinforce this behaviour...

when I was a kid I wanted to be Annie Oakley when I grew up.

  9. Evil has been in the heart of man since Biblical times.  We live in a mercantile society where people will sell anything they can.  Including violence in an evil situation.

I think that violence is good if it's for the right reasons.  For example, we need badass soldiers to protect democracy and keep the dictator powers in check.  And if cops didn't have guns, imagine how many more murders there would be.

But assassination is glamorized on television because themes of violence and power get ratings.

  10. Theres too much violence on t.v.

  11. TV is vile the way it promotes violence and aggression. It is a reflection of producers' (and of other people in power) bad attitudes.
