Question:

Why does the AFL Grand Final crowd vary so much?

I've been thinking about this and the crowds over recent years have varied by as much as 10,000 people. Yet it's impossible to get tickets (even for some club members).

What's the deal - surely it can't be 10,000 people not turning up? (And if it is why not do some standby arrangement 10,000 X $200 a ticket equals ... well ... LOTS of money)

  1. mcg has had lots of rennovations being done but the main reason nobody wants to watch the swannnnnnies play

  2. Because it's the last game of the year

  3. Dont forget that in the past few years the MCG has had huge rennovations for the Commonwelth games in 2006.

If you look at the attendances for the past 20 seasons, you will se that the crowd is more consistant than it has been in the past 5 years. Because in the past 5 years, the MCG has been rennovated

  4. Because a lot of people purchase these tickets the moment their team looks like making the final 8.

Because of scalping laws these tickets go to waste.

Also a lot of tickets have to be allocated to sponsors & yes a lot of these people don't turn up either.

  5. i remember 30yrs ago when the mcg wasnt even renovated

they had a crowd of 110,000 plus, now with the up grade it

only holds about 90-96,000 capicaty, why i really dont know

    why?
