It seems that the Atlantic Ocean has more hurricanes and tropical storms than the Pacific. Is there some scientific explaination?

  1. I think what you're trying to say is that the East Coast and The Gulf Coast receive a lot more tropical cyclones than the West Coast.

Out in the West Pacific, there are a lot of typhoons that develop. Given the presence of the Pacific High, the people on the West Coast don't get to see hurricanes often, if at all. An anticyclone rotates clockwise, meaning most tropical lows are deflected Westward of the HPC.

On the other hand, the other side of North America gets a lot of action because there's nothing pushing tropical lows away from there. The wind and pressure belts actually push the systems into such areas.
