Why does the Chinese government try to make up c**p about the truths behind the edited video and that girl?

Why did the Chinese government try to make up **** about the video editing how "the lighting on the video was dark so some edited video might have been included in the original video" and also how "it was in the best interest of the country to show that cute little girl for show rather than the actual girl that sang the song"? I mean, it's not like anyone would care. Why don't they just say, "well, our job was to put on a good show, so we did what we had to to make your enjoyment the slightest bit better." But it's not like anyone would have cared or noticed anyway. What's the point of all that c**p? I heard from friends who were actually at the opening ceremonies that it was the best thing they ever saw. How would a little extra fireworks or a cuter girl make any difference?

  1. Well, I think it does matter actually or should we get Mariah Carey to sing a song - but decide that actually we prefer the looks of Rhiana so get her to mime the song....?  It actually exploits both girls - or doesn't it matter in your eyes because they're children...

Now it's done, it's done and yes it was a great "performance". The fake fireworks didn't bother me a bit - but this does because vulnerable children were mis-used. The little girl who mimed and was feeling proud will now feel a fraud and a fake and her moment of glory diminished.  The girl who sang will know that the majority of people think she's pretty ugly....

  2. > He is essentially making it impossible for me to make a living..with or without him

    Of course people care.

It is the pictures that live on forever, and we care how the stars and/or symbols look.

Ever seen people on a red carpet? they care how they look because the pictures will long outlast the event itself, and popularity and opinions depend on how the pictures come out.

    Same thing.

Pretty much why you want someone who sings well btw - there are plenty of examples of people who have botched our national anthem, and in many cases it is a big negative on a career. It matters.

Not saying it was a wise choice, but you asked for why they thought that way and that is it.

  3. they are all about perfection. If you read more into the girl story you will see that the 'cute girl' had the best stage performance and appearance while the 'other girl' had the best voice. Their concerns with the fireworks was that they wouldn't be able to capture the same effect on camera then all of the people seeing it. Its all about image when it comes to the olympics and the host country wants things to be perfect and come off flawless. There was lip-syncing in the last winter olympics. Really when it comes down to it you don't remember the olympics for all that random c**p. In fact I can barely remember much about the opening ceremony in the athens olympics.

  4. The Chinese do not live by the same code as us. They do things now and ask questions later. They always have to  have something bigger, better, and they don't care who cares if they do it. The case of the little girl, they wanted the cuter girl, I didn't see where the other little girl was ugly at, but that was just them trying to be better.

  5. The Chinese wish their people to be robots, like their athletes.

  6. They want to attain perfection by any means possible, even if it's cheating/fake, which kind of makes them look like they are not very strong/smart.

  7. before anybody starts critisizing china i've got the real story

little girl #2 (the one who wasn't chosen) wasn't not chosen because of her looks it was because she had stage fright. altho she had the best voice she was too scared to sing in front of that many ppl...so they went with the little girl #1 who was extremely experienced as she had sang in front of millions b4 ...IT WAS NOT BECAUSE OF THE GIRLS TEETH or her cuteness!!!
