Why does the Christian community prosecute homosexuality but ignore more Biblically significant sins?

For example, sloth and gluttony plague the nation and are among the seven deadly sins, while homosexuality is only rarely alluded to in the Bible.

  1. A sin is a sin to God. There are no "seven deadly sins," as though those were worse than any other. Regardless of the sin, God weighs it as the same. Homosexuality is heavily mentioned in Leviticus and Deuteronomy, though not as much as in the NT, because that was part of the law of the OT.

  2. they hate f**s

  3. Let's just clarify your word...

The word is PERSECUTE, not PROsecute.  To prosecute is to take LEGAL action against, and Christians do not have such authority.

Now... as to an answer... I simply do not accept your premise that Christians IGNORE "MORE" Biblical significant sins.

ALL sins are equally significant in God's view.  Therefore, sloth and gluttony are not MORE significant, but equally so.  The concept of the "Seven deadly sins" is GROSSLY misunderstood AND misused.  Please see the article link below for a clear explanation of this.

    ALL sins are DEADLY... PERIOD.

But you are "emphasizing" that Christians "concern themselves" with homosexuality MORE than with other sins.  Sorry, but that is unprovable and an assumption on your part.  Oh, and just because the Bible doesn't name ALL the sins an "equal number of times," again, does NOT make some sins MORE equal than others.

So, your premise is untrue and unprovable.

    Have a blessed day.

  4. Read what God says about it, you will find how significant it is:

Rom 1:18   But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who push the truth away from themselves.

Rom 1:19   For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts.

Rom 1:20   From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.

Rom 1:21   Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. The result was that their minds became dark and confused.

Rom 1:22   Claiming to be wise, they became utter fools instead.

Rom 1:23   And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people, or birds and animals and snakes.

Rom 1:24   So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies.

Rom 1:25   Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen.

Rom 1:26   That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have s*x and instead indulged in s*x with each other.

Rom 1:27   And the men, instead of having normal sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men and, as a result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved.

Rom 1:28   When they refused to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done.

Rom 1:29   Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.

Rom 1:30   They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They are forever inventing new ways of sinning and are disobedient to their parents.

Rom 1:31   They refuse to understand, break their promises, and are heartless and unforgiving.

Rom 1:32   They are fully aware of God's death penalty for those who do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them anyway. And, worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too

  5. Those who practice hatred and bigotry only target that which they don't see in themselves.  To target these things, many would have to target themselves.

  6. Sins such as sloth or gluttony can be repented and controlled.  Can Homosexuality be repented and controlled by will of a person?

  7. The Bible says it best if you commit one sin you have committed all.  Being a Christian I see my need for my Savior every day.  I also see society going down hill fast with drugs, abortion the killing of innocents, sexual immorality and the list goes on.  Yes Homosexuality is a sin also but it concerns me no more than any other.  What does bother me is that those who have been lead astray into sin want to take others with them.  Leading some one into sin has been stated in the Bible as it would have been better for that person if a mill stone was tied around their neck and they jumped into the ocean.

  8. Let alone people who literally claim to be God, and you never hear about them being protested or harrassed.

  9. Fear and/or disgust.

  10. Not true. We know we are sinners, Jesusless homnosexuals and their supporters do not admit they are

  11. Actually all sins are equal since all sins result in death and eternity in h**l.

  12. Homosexuality is a big, easy bogeyman to get upset over.  Sloth, Gluttony, and especially Greed are far more subtle and much harder to deal with.

h**l, the capitalist system is run on Greed.

  13. It's because it involves someone enjoying s*x.  That's why they get upset about the abortion issue too.

    It's simply jealousy.

  14. And the Bible Belt has the highest obesity rate. Oh, the irony.

  15. Why argue over which sins we should be against, and which ones we should ignore, as if we can only choose to focus on a few? Why not be against all sin, and help and encourage one another, so all of us can be truly free? As Jesus said, "he who sins is a slave to sin." And that applies to ALL sin.

Remember, the Bible says cursed is he who adds or REMOVES any part of the Scriptures. Therefore we shouldn't minmize the importance of those "rare" verses about homosexuality, nor the ones referring to gluttony, etc.

  16. Because they are homophobic due to a high incidence of repressed homosexuality

  17. A whole lot of hypocrisy.
