Why does the EU have more backbone than the US.....?

Question

in dealing with oil bullies? Germany and Great Britain are going to look at continued Russian participation in all western policy and financial government groups at the risk of damaging a constant supply of oil to their countries.Why didn't the US follow suit after 911 and treat the Saudis as such?

Instead of easing the travel of Saudi family members out of the country , we should have detained them until the House of Saud turned over Bin Laudin.
