Why does the EU still allow manufacturers to use hydrogenated fats in food production?

There is enough scientific evidence these fats are really bad for us humans.

  1. Yes there is. It's probably because half of the junk food that people like is made of the stuff and junk food is an enormous industry.

    Using safer higher quality fats is also more expensive.

    Same reasons why the government doesn't *really* want us to stop smoking and drinking.
